With increased growth in eCommerce in the UK, especially during the recent pandemic, many businesses are looking at ways in which they can become more efficient and competitive.
As a result, in 2020, the Big Box Group launched a new subsidiary company, Big Box Automation, on the back of increased enquiries for robotics and automation.
The Big Box Group specialises in providing intralogistics and temporary and permanent buildings to customers across a wide number of industries and applications. The addition of an Automation subsidiary was seen as a logical move to complete the offer.
The original Intralogistics business which covers warehouse design, racking and storage systems, including handling equipment was added to in 2018 with Big Box Buildings. Whilst Big Box Intralogistics had experience of the Automation market, Ian Gillard the Group MD, realised more resource and expertise were needed, to ensure customers were provided with the right level of product and service.
Big Box Intralogistics were developing sales of robotic and automation equipment during this time, especially for eCommerce customers. Identifying that this was a strong growth opportunity for the Big Box Group, we not only launched Big Box Automation but also recruited a leading professional to head it up. Jason Dyche has been working in the goods handling and equipment market since the turn of the Millennium. As Head of Logistics and Head of Retail his Clients included Sainsburys, Asda, Co-op, Tesco as well as names such as Aldi, Lidl, Iceland and Greggs. He also dealt with large E Commerce suppliers such as Amazon and service handlers including the major UK airports, the Royal Mail and DHL.
Big Box Automation are quickly getting a reputation in the UK as suppliers to eCommerce businesses, the logistics sector and other users of robotics. With the ever-increasing demands of customers and expectations of same day delivery pressure is on to offer reduced timelines. Existing Market developments and trends are here to stay, companies must improve logistic flows and efficiency and reduce their order-to-delivery time. Systematic automation of their logistical processes allows businesses to meet customers’ needs and gain a competitive advantage.
